@shredurst: Economy picking when done correctly can sound smooth and powerful in your riffs and solos. I've been doing it since I was a kid, long before I knew there was even a name for it. I love having it in the ol' holster ready to draw when I need something fast and smooth to connect chords with a flurry of notes or to make a riff sound more fluid and create more dynamics with accents against the beat.
