Some songs are simply made to break you open to bring back memories, feelings and pain you thought you had learned to live with. 💔 And this song does exactly that to me. This is the burden I have carried with me every single day since 2001. 💔💔 My first husband pressured me into having an abortion against my heart and against what I wanted. Deep down, I have always believed that baby would have been my first son.I still carry the pain of that decision with me every single day. I was so deeply in love with him, and I was terrified of losing him if I refused to do what he wanted. We even went through therapy because I could not accept taking our baby away. For years, I have asked myself what would have happened if I had listened to my own heart and my own mind instead of giving in. I will never know who that little ”boy” would have become, and that uncertainty is something I have to live with for the rest of my life. I have learned to live with the grief, but living with it is not the same as forgiving it. I will always wonder who that baby would have become, and a part of my heart will always belong to the child I never got to know. 💔 At the same time, I am grateful beyond words for the son I have today and for the man who chose both of us. ❤️I can carry the grief of one child while being profoundly grateful for the child and family I have today. Both can exist in my heart at the same time. ♥️🙏
