@kresearchdata: A strong research project starts with a strong hypothesis. 🎓📚 But what exactly makes a research hypothesis strong, clear, and testable? A research hypothesis is more than an educated guess. It is a specific statement predicting how two or more variables are expected to relate to each other. It gives your study direction and helps you determine exactly what needs to be measured and tested. Before writing yours, make sure you can clearly identify your independent variable (IV), which represents the predictor or possible cause, and your dependent variable (DV), which represents the outcome you intend to measure. You should also understand the difference between the null hypothesis (H₀) and alternative hypothesis (H₁). The null assumes there is no meaningful relationship or difference, while the alternative expresses the relationship or effect your research expects to find. Your hypothesis may also be directional, non-directional, simple, or complex, depending on your research question, variables, and study design. A useful way to build one is: Research question → Variables → Measurements → Expected direction → Testable hypothesis For example: Research question: Does study time affect students' exam scores? Hypothesis: Students who spend more time studying will achieve higher exam scores. Notice how the hypothesis identifies a relationship, predicts a direction, and can actually be tested using data. If you're currently working on a proposal, dissertation, thesis, or research project, save this carousel so you can return to the steps when writing your hypothesis. 💬 What part of writing a research hypothesis do you find most difficult: identifying the variables, choosing the type, or writing H₀ and H₁?
