🗣️🚨 “YOUR CHILD CAN SPEAK… BUT ONLY TALKS WHEN THEY NEED SOMETHING?” 👶 Does your child: ❌ Speak only to ask for food, toys, or help? ❌ Rarely start a conversation? ❌ Never spontaneously tell you about something? ❌ Stay quiet unless they need something? ❌ Not ask questions or share interests? ❌ Struggle to keep a conversation going? 💬 “My child can speak, but doesn't actually COMMUNICATE with us.” 🧠 SPEECH ≠ FUNCTIONAL COMMUNICATION. A child may know words and still have difficulty with: 🗣️ Spontaneous communication 💬 Conversation skills 🤝 Social communication 🧠 Pragmatic language ❤️ Sharing interests, feelings & experiences ⚠️ This pattern can occur with autism and other developmental or language difficulties, but it does not diagnose autism by itself. 🎯 WATCH FOR THE BIGGER PICTURE: 👉 Does your child point to share interest? 👉 Show you things just to share them? 👉 Ask questions? 👉 Respond when you talk? 👉 Make eye contact naturally? 👉 Engage in pretend or social play?
