A class action filed in 2024 alleges that Trojan condoms — made by Church & Dwight and advertised as "America's #1 Condom" — contain undisclosed PFAS, the chemicals better known as "forever chemicals." According to the complaint, independent lab testing of Trojan Ultra Thin found organic fluorine, a marker that's practically nonexistent outside of man-made PFAS — and none of it appears anywhere on the packaging. Here's why it matters: PFAS are used across manufacturing because they're slick and water-repellent — the same chemistry that makes rain jackets bead water and pans nonstick. They're called "forever chemicals" for a reason: they don't break down in nature, and they don't break down in your body. The problem is a condom sits against some of the most absorbent tissue you have. The lawsuit's argument is that shoppers were never told, and wouldn't have bought them "on the same terms" if they had been. The fix is not to stop using protection — it's to use it.
