@hustlersnthehood: Ashley La Bomme-Benson has been baking in Los Angeles for nine years. Five kids, a husband who coaches high school football, 155,000 people watching her dip cookies on TikTok. And in 2026 the business had done about $7,000 all year. Her last online cookie order was more than a year old. Her words: people treat cookies as a luxury, not a necessity. On August 11 she was in the bathtub scrolling Threads when she saw Ms. Rachel asking Black business owners to drop their businesses in the replies. There were already more than 4,000 comments. She almost kept scrolling. She replied anyway, and then went down the thread liking every other Black owned business she could find. The next morning she posted a thank you. An hour later Ms. Rachel reposted it and followed her. Then her phone buzzed with a Shopify alert. Ten orders in ten minutes. Five times that within the hour. The first 24 hours covered her $3,650 rent for September. Two weeks in, 102 orders from all over the country, $30 a dozen. She is working on a cookie of the month box now and wants a storefront. The box of cookies on the cover is an AI illustration. The baker is real, and the woman in the circle is Ms. Rachel. @thebommesweets #HustlersNTheHood
