tried that twice. never again. I got tired of being the only one paying all the bills, getting groceries,paying for nights out, if we(meaning I) could afford it, and gas. might as well been single. one turned out to be a dead beat. the other had a drug addiction in the end.

We married later in life- my first marriage his 2nd. Both established adults. He has college age kids. We both have mortgages and bills. It’s just easier to have separate accounts primarily and a joint account for our 2 rental property incomes. We know what’s in each others account and have no issues with money- it just works. And, if I was married younger and not as established, I would 100% combine accounts/income and think that it’s a good thing.

Money is the number one reason for divorce. I think the best plan is to have yours, mine and our accounts. I can get as many trips for coffee as I want and he can buy his silly tools. Then we split the bills evenly and for bigger purchases, we both contribute to the same pot. This way saves a lot of strain on a relationship.

It took my wife and I 8 years of being together to combine finances and I wish we would have done it way sooner. I admit I’m stubborn and thought I could do everything by myself and was wrong. Things are so much better having my wife help manage the money. Don’t let my wife see this 😂

We not combined right now but I want to be once I become a teacher...He makes the money but we do go over finances together bi-weekly. We both have access to the other accounts as well

for both marriages I've been in, all of our money was together. I was responsible for paying bills and keeping the finances. getting divorced twice and splitting things is a pain. I won't get married again or combine my money with anyone.

My husband and I do not have children and we’re both almost equally successful. We split bills based off of percentage of income and adjust every now and then. We also live by the motto “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” and we have a very happy healthy life. We laugh and love life with each other.

We are second marriage, had long established accounts, his is a business account. We never felt the need to combine, we still work on financial goals together, it isn't really that big of a deal, people just get weird about it.
