unfortunately on the way to work this morning I passed a fawn laying on the side of the road. I thought it had been hit by a car and passed away, but it was still alive, and paralyzed from the shoulders down. there was nothing I could do so I called the police and reported it and they sent an officer to end its suffering. poor thing had just started life and then it ended so painfully....

choking - work to dislodge the item blocking the air way. cpr does nothing there is a blocked airway.

I still wake up in cold sweats hearing the guy I was desperately trying to get to in the upside down van tangled in barbed wire under a power pole. His screams of "I'm burning, I'm burning" haunt me in ways I can barely describe. God was with us that day, and the last swing got a hole big enough, but those lobster red bloody legs said so much. Cops told me to leave as I was walking him to ambulance (They had blocked the highway because of fire, but hadn't helped try to get him out). Never got his name, never got closure of any sort.

not me, a colleague. It started as a normal shift on the ambulance. Nothing special. Then the call. A cyclist was hit full speed. The scene, horrifying. The bike hang over a fence 20 meters from the impact. The cyclist still alive. Out of the book polytrauma. Open factures, lung collapsed, head trauma, severe brain injuries. They did a masterwork in the ambulance. Arms unusable, Infusion directly into his neck. Pain medication, pneumonic puncture, artifical ventilation, stopping of bleeding. They took him to the ER. Trauma room, OP-Team ready. But he never had a chance. He died at the age of 36

my puppy Finn was 8 weeks old. took him for his shots and all was fine. a week later, he has to go outside at midnight. he wasn't feeling well. we came back inside and he wanted to cuddle. as I cuddled him, ready to put him back to bed, he started gagging blood. it came pouring from his mouth...he was drowning in it. I got him on the counter and tried compressions, and it made it worse. I finally just gently stroked his little head and told him he was a very good boy and watched him pass away and gently as I could while he was drowning. There was blood everywhere at midnight and I was absolutely devastated. I had always wanted to raise a puppy on my own. now, I have Tarly, and im absolutely all over his care and fearful of all things shots, but Finn always has a very special place in my heart.

I went to a concert/festival in Cleveland in like 2005. My GF and I watched someone fall over the railing and land on their head on the main floor. There was a giant puddle of blood. Their friend came down after them and was holding their limp body. Event staff/medical staff started attending to the person. It was so disturbing we left. It felt like no one else was noticing it. I’ve checked for years to see if anyone reported on it but I’ve never seen anything or know what happened to that person.

it's definitely not as gory as some things mentioned, but having to watch my normally bouncy, hyper male ferret , deteriorate rapidly in a week due to depression. His best friend, a male ferret belonging to my best friend, moved away, and we didn't realize how attached my ferret had gotten until it was too late. He would just lay on the floor of his cage, whimpering and crying, refusing to play or interact with the other ferrets he'd been raised with. He passed in my hands, and I just screamed, begging God to give him back. He was so young, and so full of zing, that seeing him deteriorate so fast , hurt so much I didn't know he had gotten so attached to the other ferret. He had been around our girl ferrets longer, and played just as rough with them as he did with the other boy. My best friend's ferret was perfectly ok, and I saw him just last October when I went to visit her.

In my early 20's. I worked at a gas station that was on the corner of a major intersection. While I was smoking a cigarette. A motorcycle blew through a red light, and was hit by a Semi. i will never forget seeing an actual mist of blood. The semi dragged his body down the road.

My baby passed in my tummy overnight and I had to deliver vaginally. I was on my knees and she came out so fast both nurses missed catching her and she landed on the bed with a flop. Thank goodness I had turned around so my butt was facing the head of the bed because she def would have landed on the floor otherwise

Just picked up my kids from afterschool care. White van with 4 or 5 Mexican guys got stuck on the railroad tracks. I can still hear the impact. They didn’t make it.

I was moving across the country. stopped at the side of the road to pee. heard brakes screeching, turned around and saw an 18 wheeler completely crush a Sprint car. the driver of the sprint got squished out like a hammer to a tube of toothpaste. my dad was like LETS GO BEFORE WE CANT and we took off. I tried to explain how traumatic it was (family didn't see it like I did) and my dad was like "at least we didn't get stuck for hours".
