This picture shows a rechargeable battery power circuit for a quartz clock. Main parts Two 18650 lithium-ion batteries They provide the power. With the TP4056 board, they should be connected in parallel, not series. Parallel keeps the battery voltage around 3.0–4.2 V while increasing capacity. TP4056 charging module The micro-USB socket is the charging input. B+ / B− connect to the battery. OUT+ / OUT− provide the battery output to the circuit. It charges a single Li-ion cell/parallel battery pack to about 4.2 V. The board also commonly provides over-charge/over-discharge/short-circuit protection if it is the protected version. AMS1117-1.5V regulator The TP4056 output can be around 4.2 V, which is too high for a normal 1.5 V quartz clock. The AMS1117-1.5V reduces the voltage to approximately 1.5 V. The red wire is positive (+) and the blue wire is negative (−) in the picture. Quartz clock movement It normally operates from a 1.5 V AA-type battery. The regulator supplies approximately 1.5 V instead of using the original battery. Simple power flow USB 5V → TP4056 → 18650 batteries → AMS1117-1.5V → Quartz clock ⚠️ Important: TP4056 is designed for a single-cell Li-ion system (4.2 V maximum). If the two 18650 cells are connected in series, do not use this circuit. They must be parallel and matched cells. Also, the AMS1117 wastes the extra voltage as heat. For a low-current clock this may work, but a low-quiescent-current 1.5 V regulator can be a better choice for long battery life. #basicelectronics #foryou #ElectronicsEducation #ElectronicsExplained #ElectronicsExplained
