@xfax_twd: “The day will come when you won’t be”🩸😐 / The Walking Dead (2010/ Rick Grimes edit / #creatorsearchinsights #edit #thewalkingdead #goviral /Rick Grimes is the central protagonist of The Walking Dead, portrayed by Andrew Lincoln. He is a former sheriff’s deputy who becomes one of the most important leaders in the post-apocalyptic world. 🧑‍✈️ Before the apocalypse Before everything collapsed, Rick was a sheriff’s deputy in King County, Georgia. Rick worked alongside his best friend and fellow officer, Shane Walsh. Rick was a dedicated police officer and generally tried to follow the law, protect innocent people, and keep his family safe. Rick’s life changes after he is shot during a confrontation with criminals. He wakes up in a hospital after the world has already fallen apart. His first experience of the apocalypse is waking up completely alone, with the hospital apparently abandoned. He eventually discovers that the dead are walking—and that society has collapsed. ⸻ 🏥 The search for his family Rick leaves the hospital and eventually meets Morgan Jones and Morgan’s son, Duane. Morgan explains what has happened and helps Rick understand the new world. Rick then travels to Atlanta, believing that his wife Lori and son Carl may have gone there. Instead of finding his family immediately, Rick discovers a city filled with walkers. Eventually, Rick encounters Glenn and other survivors. Glenn helps him escape Atlanta, and Rick eventually discovers that Lori, Carl, Shane, and several others are alive in a survivor camp. Rick and Lori reunite. But things aren’t the same anymore. ⸻ 👨‍👩‍👦 Rick, Lori, Carl and Shane One of the biggest conflicts in Rick’s early story involves Shane. While Rick was believed to be dead, Shane had been protecting Lori and Carl. Shane and Lori had also developed a relationship. When Rick returns, Shane struggles to accept his presence. This creates a major conflict between the two former friends. Rick wants to preserve his family and his friendship with Shane, but the apocalypse gradually pushes both men toward very different philosophies. Rick initially tries to maintain his old moral standards. Shane becomes increasingly convinced that survival requires abandoning those standards. ⸻ 🏕️ The prison Later, Rick and the group discover a prison that becomes one of their most important places of safety. Rick transforms the prison into a home. This is where his leadership really develops. He’s no longer simply trying to survive. He’s trying to create a functioning community. He becomes responsible for decisions involving: * Food * Security * Medical care * Prisoners * Other survivor groups * Protection from walkers * Protection from hostile humans Rick gradually realizes that the apocalypse isn’t simply humans vs. zombies. Sometimes the greatest danger comes from other survivors. ⸻ 🧠 Rick’s transformation One of the most interesting parts of Rick’s character is how much he changes. Early Rick is still very connected to his old life as a police officer. He believes in rules and civilization. But the apocalypse forces him to make increasingly difficult decisions. He becomes more aggressive, more suspicious, and more willing to do things he would never have considered before. However, Rick never completely loses his desire to protect people. That’s what makes his character complicated. He’s constantly caught between: “What is morally right?” and “What do I have to do to keep everyone alive?” ⸻ 🧟 The Governor One of Rick’s biggest enemies is the Governor. The Governor controls Woodbury and eventually comes into conflict with Rick’s group. Their conflict becomes extremely personal. The Governor represents a completely different type of leadership from Rick. Rick wants to build a community where people can live together. The Governor uses fear and control. Their conflict eventually leads to the destruction of the prison and one of the most devastating periods of Rick’s story. ⸻ 👦 Carl Rick’s relationship with Carl is one of the most important relationships in the entire series.
