@immigrationantoinette: Important I-864 update. On August 31, USCIS made its new Affidavit of Support effective immediately - with no grace period. Immigration attorneys sued USCIS on September 3. One day later, USCIS changed course and announced a 30-day grace period. The previous edition can now be used through September 30. Beginning October 1, the new I-864 will be mandatory, including its authorization for USCIS to check a sponsor’s credit information.
