My HS Band Director would just stand 5ft away from me without saying a word and look disappointed when I was the last to be picked up (granted he did live almost an hour drive away from the school and he had a family to return to, while I only lived a 20 minute walk away from the school and walking wouldn't have been an issue if it wasn't dark and at the time there was a convicted 🍇ist on the way) My Middle School Band Director was chill though and we had great conversations while waiting for me to be picked up (and never made me feel like it was my fault for being picked up last)
