The point is, if you were scared of God you wouldn’t be going immediately back to him when you fall into sin. You fear his infinite power and ability to send you away from his presence forever. Fear and to revere God is not equal to being afraid and scared of him. There’s a big difference even though fear is often tied to being scared. “It’s paradoxical, but it works”

What are your thoughts on the fear of the Lord? I don’t think it’s necessarily being afraid but more show having deep respect in wanting to please God which is what the Bible is referring to with regards to fear. Like our earthly father, I can sometimes be afraid of them but I have deep respect at the same time.

They were not scared before they ate the fruit. After they ate, they hid from God. We should be scared of God to a degree. Not to the point of not wanting to interact with Him, but it should be enough to obey Him and want the things He wants.
