@startoverstrategy: I turned $4 into $80 with two ridiculously simple Facebook Marketplace flips. First: a vintage solid-wood piece of furniture sitting on the curb with a FREE sign. I stuffed it into my little car, brought it home, listed it without refinishing or even cleaning it up—and sold it for $20. Then I spotted two beautiful floor lamps at a garage sale for $2 each. I’d recently learned that lamps can be a great resale item, so I took the chance. Total investment: $4. I listed the pair for $60. They sold almost immediately. $80 in sales. $4 invested. $76 profit. Am I suggesting you’re going to build your entire financial future flipping curb furniture and $2 lamps? No. 😂 This is what I call the sprinkles on the cake. The cake I’m building is my actual business. But while that business grows, an extra $20 here, $60 there, a little babysitting, reselling, tutoring, or another small income stream can help fill the gaps. And I’m getting better at this. I’m learning NOT to fill my house with random cheap stuff because maybe somebody will buy it. I’m learning what has resale value, what moves quickly in my local market, and when to leave something behind. For divorced former tradwives rebuilding financially, I think this matters: We don’t have to find ONE perfect thing that immediately replaces an entire household income.
