I’m selective mute and I’m 19 I got diagnosed at 4 and it hasn’t got better at all probably due to lack of support I will genuinely blank people because I physically cannot talk it’s embarrassing 🙂

does it count as selective mutism if i can talk to family anf friends out in public but the second someone i dont know comes over or i have to talk to a stranger i get scared,my throat goes tight and i feel like crying but everyone whos close to me knows that its better to just talk for me

So we have a student at my school who is selectively mute and hasn’t spoken to any adults since they’ve started in kindergarten. Is there anything we can to to help them feel more comfortable and confident at school? We feel bad for them and they seem very sad and it’s hard to watch.

I had selective mutism too as a kid I never saw anyone talk about it back then I'm so glad there's more people talking about it online now I dint want anyone to feel as lonely and misunderstood as I did
