It’s bc the crush she had on him evolved into a deep empathetic desire to save him. She clung to those memories of the “softer” moments she had with him and ignored his toxic and violent actions. She believed he had a kind heart buried under his trauma. Tbh that’s the thing I did not like. I wish she came to terms with the time he truly and painfully rejected her so we could see more of her self growth and independence. And we could see the more platonic side. It just makes more sense in my opinion. And who know then it would make sense for them to end up together. But tbh I wish instead she met a different ninja and they slowly and gradually fall in love.
