The problem when you have watched Atla at 6 years old is that you don't remember your reaction. You just have watched something beautiful, but you just watched it and waited for the next. So when I watched again Atla, when I were older, I always knew what will happen. So I wasn't surprised. So I don’t fucking know if I was angry or sad. All I remember is «please please, make that the scenario has changed !!!»and it didn’t, so i went directly to the part where Zuko go apologize to the gaang 🫡😭🤣

Iroh knows what it means to care about someone no matter what, to know someone well enough that you understand them enough to want to fight their battles with them and see why they do everything they do, rooting for them as much as they do for themselves and more, that's true love, to have the self sacrifice for their benefit to do anything you can for them, he's the perfect mentor and father figure character after everything he's been through, throwing his life away with war only to realize how much of a fool he was when he lost his son, he's flawed but he learned his wisdom from his mistakes

My dad was my best friend when I was younger. When I was a teen me and him would fight nonstop to the point I ran off and stopped talking to him. When I got pregnant I reconnected with him similar to Zuko with Ihroh. They way my dad held me and told me he never blamed me or stopped loving me. I was terrified he would hate me for all of those horrible things I said when I was angry. That type of love is beyond precious.
