its not a video game book. its about a man struggling to hang on to his humanity. its about how he has every reason to turn into a monster and still chooses decency and compassion. its about the little guy vs the system. 53 pages is just getting you aquainted with the new environment. dont let your preconcieved notions of video games hold you back.

Girl Crawler here and you should have stuck with it. Its full of emotion, found family, unwinding generational trauma, well written female characters, taking down captialism and great humor. Yes, its a video game but its a video game they were forced into by a mega corporation for the entertainment of rich people. 53 pages wasn't enough to get into the deep stuff.

I almost DNF the first book. I’m reading book 7 currently. If you’re having a hard time, I would highly recommend the Audiobooks. It’s the best narrated book I’ve probably ever heard.

Hmm. I’m a 47 year old woman. I’ve never played a video game in my life lol. And I love these books. I appreciate Carl’s humanity and I love Donut. 🤷♀️but it’s definitely not for everyone…

Too bad. It’s gets pretty deep into themes about corporate greed, late stage capitalism and found family. And there are massively important and powerful female characters. But if it’s not for you it’s not for you.
