There is a difference between being afro Latina and just being “black” because being afro Latina is a specific identity within the broader spectrum of what is black diaspora. Celia Cruz always identified with her roots of being a Latina. Why are we blanketing specific demographics of people who exclusively identify with their culture first before they identify with the color of their skin?
