This is pig. She was born super premature. She was .8lbs at birth no colostrum bc she was so weak she couldn’t get any from mom and mom hated her. She had velvet fur. Honestly i didn’t think she was gonna live i didn’t name her till 3 weeks old bc i thought she was gonna die. No vet assistant bc a vet would not touch her. Anyways pig is a year and a half now. Only 20lbs instead of the 60lbs she supposed to be. But shes my piglet and i love her. So yes bellas kids will be fine born rn. T

I read that the rubbing is to help the mamma de-stress and stay calm. Apparently the one that rubs the mamma will only do it if they trust the goat completely as well. It also reinforces social and herd bonds.

Husband grew up in South Texas and had these same kind of goats, he said he had a Doe kid with triplets at day 138 and they were slightly underdeveloped. The mama and kids lived in the enclosed sun porch for the first two weeks so they could be monitored but they were fine.

I just experienced my first kidding ever. Day 42 Amelia delivered a 3 pound little girl and a 1 pound baby boy who didn’t stand for over 24 hours! I rushed him to the hospital they said his organs are fine he is just low birth weight & weak. He is 4 days old. Walking and eating but still cannot latch onto mom. It’s been rough but he is going to make it & I think bottle feeding is going to be my life for the next 2 months

Female goats rub their faces and horns on a pregnant goat (doe) that is about to give birth to reinforce social bonds, offer comfort, and share scent-marking pheromones within the herd hierarchy. hope that helps

My mom has Nigerian dwarf’s at her farm. She has had quads come at 136/137 and they were definitely very small and the runt needed some extra help but they’re all perfect healthy little goaties now. Our littlest boy did stay SUPER small though. He never really caught up, similar to Buttercups quads.
