1. Yes parts in the military are ridiculously overpriced. I once ordered a light bulb the size of my pinky nail..... 70 bucks.
2. I don't believe 80% are inoperable

I was an artillery mechanic for the M777 and unless something has changed since I got out in 2010, that doesn't look like anything pertaining to the wheen assembly

That’s the same with all the equipment I have worked on, recently retired just 3 months ago and we was still waiting on parts for a DSB.

was on a 777a2 for 13 years. was a chief, and a gunny too. wtf is that? 100% is not part of any wheel assembly ive seen for a 777. looks almost like a part for the PFM for the breach. but it isnt. so maybe a paladin? old 198?

Bro we don’t even use the howitzers anymore. In 2012-2014, they phased out almost our entire Arty unit. Ridding of all tanks and arty

Look into how many bfists are down across the army. Even better, look into how many lldr are down with no targeting device to replace it. Then go talk to the people working on targeting devices and they say price doesn't matter. Saying the price of a cable replacement isn't something we need to be concerned about after knowing this is a constant issue army wide. It's all a money laundering scheme. The govt has been stealing or allowing companies to extract taxpayer money for decades. How about the jltv that lost support within 5 yrs of being released? Very few things in the army are actually fully mission capable. Most are lied about to higher. Some we have no funding for, always. It's always one thing or another

its because the government makes incredibly high requirements on certification, inspection, and documentation on every part they buy. this is what "mil spec" means.
Just due to the certification and documentation for a bolt to be sold to the military, a stainless bolt at the hardware store for $1 costs the government $20.

That's what happens when the Government is ran by ppl who would rather enrich themselves, than keep the country and soldiers safe. Giving contracts to crooks. Who are never held accountable. Our tax dollars. Just being giving away. Taking more from us to give to the rich....💯💯💯

I used for work for a steel plant in Florida making everything for charging handles to parts for vehicles (all DOD contracts). We could have 20k hand cut charging handles shipped in 48 hours if we had the steel on hand...BUT we spent ALOT of time time a resources making a "vehicle and trailer" for an international customer. Its all about who pays a better profit margin.
