I live in Sweden, and I’ve ALWAYS had this reaction when I see people glorifying gang life. Like… what do you mean? 😭 You live in a country where education is free, healthcare exists, and you have actual opportunities to study, build a career, and completely change the trajectory of your life. You can literally become whatever you put the work into becoming. And out of ALL the options available to you… you chose gang life?

Gangs don’t just form because people think it’s “cool” or because they have a low IQ,A lot of the time it starts with poverty, isolation, lack of opportunities and people growing up seeing their parents struggle with no real hope for the future. Then you have quick money, status and the feeling of belonging, which can be very easy to sell to young people. Especially when they don’t fully understand the consequences yet. That doesn’t excuse violence or crime, but if we actually want to stop gang violence, we need to understand WHY these groups become attractive in the first place, instead of just blaming the people in them.
