If you already follow our podcast (and me), you'd know that I'm quite vocal about both the potential and pitfalls of AI, and AI coding tools are one of them. While vibecoding has indeed democratized software development, the marketing of AI coding tools can sometimes create the illusion that vibecoding is enough to create a production-ready app. From my own experience as a software engineer specializing in implementing AI-driven workflows, there is no one AI model or AI harness right now that can truly own the entire software engineering cycle without human intervention. Through this series, I hope you can see the difference between vibecoding and agentic software engineering, and understand why the engineer (you!) still plays a big part in the software development process!

Question, I’m currently wanting transitioning from mechanical engineering to UI/UX, in Singapore I was wondering what’s the scenes in that space ? Is there still space for UX/UI? I thought of building a new portfolio to create a working app from scratch. , the goal is to show the collaborative use of AI to assist (but not replace) workflow and design. So was wondering if this would be a good portfolio that hiring manager would see?

we’re shifting away from designing and handing off figma screens to handing off frontend code, but not everyone is able to produce production ready code. any tips on how to enable people to do so at scale? as currently there’s gap filling that the developers have to do before it ends up in the main codebase

Vibe coding as in prompt to product with minimal steering / interruptions is for PoC, MVP But expertly guided agents broken down into tiny milestones, that's something I do in real codebases.
