Hi I’m autistic and otters have been my special interest for 16 years. This woman was attacked by a north american river otter, which are an extremely territorial species! There are misconceptions all over the internet that this was done by a Giant river otter - which is not true. Giant river otters can get up to 6ft and 90-100lbs. Had this species been the one to attack her she would not have survived. This incident should not be used to demonize these animals. Even she admitted it was her own fault. It’s always important to be aware of the wildlife around you!!

Man, this is why I am scared of ALL wild animals. Yes they might be cute, but they can be cute in a picture I look at in the safety of my home or at a distance of at least 15 feet(preferably more😅😂). If one gets anywhere near me, I’m removing myself from the situation expeditiously. Regardless of if the animal is small/ cute/ “harmless”. 🤷🏻♀️
