I always told myself, every time I bleed I was cleansing spiritually. When I bled with massive cramps, it was usually around periods when I was with someone who my body didn’t want any part to do with anymore so I would remove them from within my system through bleeding during my periods.

I don’t remember where I read this to quote it, but I read that our body cells die off and regenerate in 7 year cycles and that after 7 years you technically have a body that hasn’t physically been touched by that relationship from 7+ years ago. Obviously this is about the physical side, but I agree on the spiritual aspect and that our emotions can allow ties to remain longer than our body physically wants.
