I was married when I got my dog. I specifically said "This isn't our dog. This isn't a family dog. This is my dog." for this reason. I left a year later. She was the only thing he didn't take from me.

yeahhhhhh. already dread the day that i have to make the decision for my dog (she had mouth cancer and went through radiation, but it only extends the time until the inevitable) , but having to try and reach out to my ex about that info makes me so much more emotional than i already am at the thought. but you better bet im gonna at least try to reestablish contact... even if he ignores me, at least i can say i tried. for the sake of my dog. and her loving him just as much as i did.

Got divorced and our dogs didn’t love each other so we each got one. My ex’s new wife and I only keep in touch so I can get updates on him, his photos, and will tell me when he passes.

Okay my ex who I definitely struggled with… they were his dogs first but I cared for them for 4 years till I sent them to him in Japan… that relationship didn’t end easy BUT when the babies got sick he kept me in loop and even FaceTimed me to say goodbye from overseas. Shame shame on your ex
