Asking for help with that is not weird at all. Demanding it is. When I was in college, a friend offered to text me every day at that time. It really helped. Later when he left school I asked another friend. They were happy to. For people on meds, this is us “learning how to do it.” It’s ok to ask for help. But it’s not their responsibility if they don’t want to or if they forget. My friends forgot all the time and it was totally no problem at all and they knew that and I knew that but so many times I would have forgotten.

As the roommate who was (is) on medications, it’s not Billy’s (Billie?) responsibility… was it nice when my roommate would notice some behaviors (like some potential mania signs) and kindly ask if I had remembered my meds, yes she was wonderful and she will forever be my sister because of her support, but she could’ve completely ignored it and I wouldn’t have put that pressure on her. My heart goes out to Billie

freshman year, someone on my floor had a mental health crisis and because his teammates didn’t want him to lose his scholarship, I was in charge of his meds. they were kept in my room and someone would come to get his doses. 3 weeks in I broke down and told my RA bc that’s not my responsibility. I had to make sure I was around so he could get his meds. it wasn’t fair and he got the help he needed

I’m so sorry, as someone on daily meds, if you can’t take them independently, you shouldn’t be in college. I get it can be a learning curve, but parents need to teach their kids this earlier.

@noah hope this helps you in the future both better understand what the student may be going through and understand that they are trying to “do it themself” and actually really strong and evolved in social conditioning to ask someone for help since nobody should feel bad about not being able to do things alone. They just asked a person it wasn’t the most appropriate to and wouldn’t let the person refuse which is not cool
