Another thing overlooked in the book is the fact that Ellie and her father had The Shining. That’s why they could see Pascow and everyone else couldn’t.

The easiest way to ruin Stephen King is to get Stephen King involved

the thing for me is, i think stephen king is a fantastic storyteller, but i don't think he's a good writer (in my opinion, that doesn't mean he isn't enjoyable or that people don't love his writing). screenplays need more than just good storytelling

Stephen cannot get it through his thick skull that some things are only scary when you’re reading it

The pet sematary book genuinely made me cry. The movie is kinda fun and the acting is a little too bad to really feel the same sadness. The ramones song goes hard though “I don’t wanna be buried in a pet sematary” they should do that for every king movie “I don’t wanna live in Derry with a spooky clown” “I don’t wanna go to overlook hotel”

My husband and I made our son’s middle name Gage in honor of this film, not sure how old he should be before we explain it. 😅

I love this silly-ass movie. Love to book in a serious way. But as a Rachel, this movie scared the mess out of me as a kid. I will never be able to get the sound of “RACHELLLLLL RACHELLLLLL” out of my mind 😂

I watched Pet semetary last night, why was Gage dressed up as the kid from the painting?

this is a movie that i really enjoy, even though it's not very good, and not one of my favorite King books! i have a very small collection of dvds and this is one of them. if nothing else, Fred Gwynne is so perfectly Jud in my head and watching the remake felt very wrong (though that was certainly not the least of its issues)

I got my Nana’s book copy of Pet Semetary a while ago. There was maybe one second I had half a chuckle but everything else I felt like I was going insane with Louis.

I read this twice. Second time was after viewing my first autopsy. I had to put the book down several times on that read

also a fascinating take is Louis being the catalyst, inadvertently, for his families downfall bevause he wanted to be alone and resented them. he resents his wife neutering church, he resents his family, and least resents ellie with her "God can have his own cat" speech

This book is horror perfection! There's no way to bring it to the screen. I watched this 1989 adaptation solely because Fred Gwynne was in it.

clare (taylors version) :
I think the best part of Stephen Kings book is the thing that is ACTUALLY scary, in this book it’s what grief can do to you, and I think those themes get lost in a lot of the movies. Same with the Shining - what addiction can do to you is the scary thing, not Jack with an axe
