I've been doing EMDR and when my brain brought me to a specific event, blood rushed in my ears and I shook and realised I can't remember anything of the night. however, I read that repressed memory theory has been largely disproven. is this different to the dissociation you're describing?

when I was young , which wouldve been during my abuse over 13 yrs, I used to day dream ALOT, like I was addicted to it. to the point if I was interrupted I would react in rage and anger. I was about from 4 yo until 13 yo

I’d love to share my experience with you. I have experienced blacking out but I’m not passed out I’m awake talking and doing things but I don’t remember the second trauma ensued… my mind goes away. I forget everything. Then I come out of it and can’t remember where I am or where I’m going. This has happened now a lot! And it started happening when trauma isn’t happening and I’m just going into a memory like a dream and life keeps happening but I’m gone in my brain while on auto pilot. When I come out of it I’m so scared. What is this?????

This is so helpful thank you! I don’t suppose you could talk about being incredibly self aware and having bpd. I’ve always been told I am incredibly self aware but I don’t feel that way. I might know what I’m doing but I can’t stop it.

Can this happen to someone that hasn’t experienced trauma like abuse or severe neglect. Trauma seems so severe. My daughter seems to fit some of this bit she has not experienced severe trauma as far as we know.

I have multiple long term traumas and just exited a relationship with someone who has the same. It was heartbreaking because as someone who has started to heal parts, I couldn’t deal with watching her deteriorate over and over.

Hi Rachel thank you for all of your clear and concise information, it's so educational. I wonder if you could do one on cptsd meltdowns, when you just utterly lose it at another person. I know you're super busy though ❤️

I remember very little up until the age of 14. Especially any time I was living with my father. I was diagnosed with DID, CPTSD and ADHD in my late 20's. I used to lose time for anywhere from minutes to days for years. I am now at a place where I am able to maintain co-consciousness most of the time.
