Hi, autistic here: we as a community have stopped associating with the color blue due to its association with the organization Autism Speaks. The organization has said some Nasty things about us and our disorder, treating it as an illness to be cured rather than a fact of life.

BIG reminder as an autistic myself, autism speaks and the puzzle logo are REALLY awful represenations for autistic people due to the history of the two things!

Not everyone is online enough to know about this. Legitimately just put something on the bucket that says that your kid is autistic and may be nonverbal, because it's not that hard. coming from someone with autism

Coloured buckets are a waste of time because nobody actually pays attention, how about parents just do their jobs and explain to whoever is at the door that their child is autistic? My mum did that for my sister for YEARS

Love the blue bucket. Over the last few years I've also started having a bowl for the trick or treaters filled with stickers and erasers and fidgets and little dollar store toys instead of just candy. For kids with allergies or sensitivities or diabetes etc.

I have a little card on my son’s Halloween bucket that says he has autism and may communicate differently. I just don’t want him denied candy for not saying “trick or treat “ when he can’t. He has a bluey bucket lol.

Unfortunately not everyone will notice this, as it's just a blue bucket. But even without a blue one, special needs children should definitely be looked out for during big events like Halloween

I don't believe autistic individuals should have to or feel they have to disclose this. Just be kind to everyone. Don't expect every child to say thank you or trick or treat. If a teen or adult comes up just give them candy.
