Artificial Intelligence is changing how we create images, videos, music, designs, articles and digital experiences. But as AI-generated content becomes more difficult to distinguish from human-made work, a new layer of technology is becoming increasingly important: AI watermarking. At first glance, AI watermarks sound like a great idea. They can help platforms and audiences understand whether content was generated or modified using AI. Technologies such as invisible watermarks and Content Credentials are being developed specifically to establish provenance and transparency. � C2PA +1 But here is the uncomfortable question: WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CREATOR WHEN THE WATERMARK BECOMES MORE TRUSTED THAN THE CREATOR? For digital producers, photographers, graphic designers, filmmakers, writers, musicians and content creators, this could become a serious issue. Imagine spending six hours creating an original visual, using AI only to remove background noise, enhance resolution, correct lighting, generate a small element or assist with editing.
