She was a good mom who was doing her best and doing what she thought he wanted and needed, she didn’t know he was autistic and obsessing over hockey and she didn’t know he was gay and in a decade long situationship with his arch rival. when she realized she messed up she apologized and immediately locked in with Ilya and accepted both of them bc that’s what he needed from her in that moment. Parenting is extremely hard and parenting autistic kids is a layer added to that and there’s no handbook, you just try your best and hope you’re doing the right thing and pivot if needed.
