This was not the first time a HG mom has gone through this- there is evidence to support Charlotte Brontë died as a result of Wernickes Encephalopathy due to HG.

More doctors need to take HG seriously. My first pregnancy they refused to medicate me and I was -26 pounds at 39 weeks. 2nd pregnancy had much better management, scary I could’ve lost sight based on the amount of vomiting

I lost over 20 pounds in my first trimester and couldn’t keep anything down. I told my primary care, and she told me it wasn’t that big of a deal since I was already overweight to begin with, and you don’t want to gain too much weight while pregnant..

wow... I had this during my pregnancy. my mother was the ONLY one fighting for me to get thiamine in my IV bags. I felt a million times better after I got it.

I was in the hospital almost every week for it. also ended up having to stay in for preeclampsia. had to have c section early for both because it was so bad. before I got pregnant, due to anxiety, I lost 115 pounds in 5 months. barely ate. can absolutely guarantee I was deficient. my husband took me to the doctors when I lost the weight and said he wanted me checked for deficiency from losing so much so quickly. the male GP said, and I kid you not, all women should be that weight. I was like 110 pounds, I'm almost 5'6.

i usually have pretty harsh HG that i get hospitalized for during my pregnancies. i only started taking vitamin b1 this time around, my 11th pregnancy (8 miscarriages) and it literally cured it 🙃😐 so i guess i found the cause for me

My daughter had HG with her second pregnancy, couldn’t even keep water down. The drs would not take her seriously, told her it was just a normal part of pregnancy… til I showed up in that office and raised HELL! They had her on a zofran drip through a port in her stomach…within a week! I was not playing with them! Ladies speak up and advocate for yourselves…get your moms, aunts..any older woman who will show up and fight for you. Be assertive

I had hg with my second. I lost 30lbs and weighed less the day I had him than the day I found out. my ob was horrific and it's a miracle we made it. there was never a day I didn't puke less than 30x. they actually tried to keep me from going into the nursery bc they thought I wasn't pregnant 😭

Having an HG pregnancy again and finally under control with a PICC line, but when I was going to the ER and getting admitted I'd ask for thiamine each time (along with Zofran and Pepcid). They obliged, but always looked at me oddly.
