@rayofhk: If intelligence becomes abundant, what becomes scarce? One possible answer may be: trusted authority. AI has spent years accumulating capability. First, it needed compute. Then data. Then chips, memory, energy and infrastructure. But as AI evolves from answering questions to taking actions, another chain begins to matter: Intelligence creates capability. Access creates opportunity. Authority creates agency. Trust determines how much agency we are willing to allow. And that last step may become one of the defining bottlenecks of the agent era. Because the question is no longer simply: Can the AI do this? It becomes: Am I willing to let it do this for me? But trust shouldn’t mean giving an intelligent system unlimited authority and hoping for the best. The better architecture may be built around: limited authority, observable actions, reversible decisions and revocable permissions. In other words, trust should increasingly become something we engineer — not something we simply hope for. And this leads to a paradox: The most trustworthy AI agent may not be the one we trust enough to give unlimited control. It may be the one that requires the least blind trust in the first place. If intelligence becomes abundant, perhaps the scarce resource isn’t intelligence anymore.
