@interestingengineering: Skyways is an Austin based company building long range autonomous cargo aircraft that take off vertically on electric rotors and then cruise on a heavy fuel engine. Its V2 carries about 30 pounds up to 450 miles and is already flying paid missions offshore in the Baltic and across Okinawa for ANA. A 37 million dollar US Air Force AFWERX contract is funding the bigger V3, which is built to carry 100 pounds more than 1,000 miles.
