If God already knows everything, why do we still need to pray? If God already knows your needs, knows your pain, and even knows the desires you have not yet spoken, then what is the point of praying? The answer is actually very simple: Prayer is not about telling God something He does not know. It is about bringing ourselves before Him. First, prayer builds our relationship with God. Just as a father may already know what his child has been through, yet still wants to hear the child tell him personally. God does not lack information. What He cares about is whether you are willing to come before Him. Second, prayer is how we place our burdens into God’s hands. 1 Peter 5：7 KJV says: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” Prayer may not make the problem disappear immediately, but it means you no longer have to carry it alone. You can bring your fears, your hurt, your weakness, and even the things you do not know how to put into words before God. Third, prayer changes us. Many times, we pray because we want God to change our circumstances. But through prayer, God is also changing our hearts. He leads us from anxiety into peace, and from insisting on our own way to slowly learning to say: “Lord, I am willing to submit to Your will.” Fourth, God truly hears prayer. 1 John 5:14 KJV says: “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us.” So you do not need beautiful words when you pray. Even if all you can say is: “Lord, I do not know what to do. Please guide me.” God still hears you. Fifth, God answers according to His will. Jesus said: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” Matthew 7:7 KJV, But God’s answer may not come according to our timing, and it may not come in the way we expect. Sometimes He changes the circumstances. Sometimes He changes us first. Sometimes He closes a door because He knows another way is better. So do not stop praying just because God already knows. The more you know God, the more you will realise: Prayer is not about making God aware of your needs. It is about bringing your heart closer and closer to Him.
