@artvangarde: Performance artist and filmmaker Valeria Putitskaya, based in Buenos Aires, creates body-based works that explore transformation, identity and the instability of the human image. In her ongoing visual experiments, Putitskaya uses her own face and body as material. Simple physical interventions, reflections and distortions transform familiar human features into strange, almost unrecognizable forms. In this work, the face appears inverted and fragmented: the eyes remain immediately recognizable while the rest of the features seem to disappear. The result is unsettling precisely because it is created from something so familiar — the human face. Putitskaya describes her practice as “a diary of mutations.” Rather than presenting identity as something fixed, her images imagine the body as something that can be continuously rearranged, distorted and reinvented.#horror #scary #art #weird #artist
