The *Sirah* of Ibn Ishaq and the edition by Ibn Hisham indicate that Abu Bakr and his family embraced Islam during the early Meccan period. His daughters Asma and Aisha (RA)—considering the age at which one can independently declare oneself a Muslim (certainly three years or older)—were involved in a marriage contract concluded after the thirteen-year Meccan period. This implies that Aisha (RA) was at least sixteen years old, and likely older. Furthermore, she joined the Prophet’s (SAW) household at least three years after the *Hijrah*. It is also uncertain whether the marriage was ever consummated, given that the Prophet (SAW) entered into most of his marriages to protect the women involved. All Muslims who know deep in their hearts that our Prophet (SAW) would never marry a child find this lie despicable; we care deeply about this matter. This lie amounts to the character assassination of our Prophet (SAW), who is known to have been the best of all mankind.
