@wesleybreed: Is this the Korean Mercedes S-Class? The first generation SsangYong Chairman was positioned to be an S-Class competitor, but it’s actually more of a Mercedes than it is anything else. In the early nineties, SsangYong struck a deal with Daimler-Benz that granted them access to Mercedes technology, and they chose to base their flagship sedan on the W124 E-Class, repurposing its older platform and powertrain. Underneath the hood is an M104 inline six, which is an engine SsangYong used until 2017, and they styled it like a smoother W140 S-Class, which actually inadvertently got them in trouble. Completely by accident, SsangYong created a copy of the upcoming W220, which hadn’t yet been revealed to the public, so Mercedes had to ask them to change some design cues, and they limited their export to non-target markets. That’s why you really only see these in Korea. This specific Chairman is a 600L, which means it has an extended wheelbase, and the passenger experience is pretty nice, with plush leather, footrests, mood lighting, and a central TV, among other things.
