For perspective, Africa is larger than: 🇺🇸 United States — ~9.8 million km² 🇨🇳 China — ~9.6 million km² 🇮🇳 India — ~3.3 million km² 🇪🇺 Europe — ~10.2 million km² In fact, the USA, China, India, and much of Europe could fit inside Africa with substantial space left over. The distortion happens because the commonly seen Mercator projection enlarges areas farther from the Equator, making places such as Greenland, Europe, Canada and Russia appear disproportionately large compared with Africa.
