Replying to @Serenity Repurpose your used tea leaves into iced tea🍹 Here’s a way you can repurpose your used tea leaves. They still have some flavour and they’re perfect for creating a refreshing iced tea. I’m using the tea leaves from my last video after my taste test. In total, we’re using 4 tablespoons of used tea leaves, a mix of Yesheng Hongcha (wild red tea), Kucha (bitter tea) and Oolong. Ingredients * 4 tbsp used tea leaves * Fresh cold water, enough to fill your jug just below the top (approx 900ml) * Fresh lemon slices and juice * 3 tbsp refined sugar-free apple cordial, or maple syrup, honey or sugar * Ice * Fresh berries, optional Method 1. Add 4 tablespoons of used tea leaves to a jug and fill with fresh cold water, leaving around a 1cm gap at the top. 2. Add your lemon slices and squeeze the juice straight into the jug. The lemon helps to balance out the strength of the tea. 3. Add 3 tablespoons of apple cordial, or use maple syrup, honey or sugar to sweeten it to your liking. 4. Leave the tea to steep in the fridge for around 30 minutes. You can leave it longer if you prefer a stronger tea. 5. Remove the tea leaves, but don’t throw them away! Keep them to the side for one final use. 6. Fill your glass with ice, pour over your iced tea and add some fresh berries for an extra summery flavour. Next step with the tea leaves - Spread them out and allow them to dry completely. Once dry, use a spoon or pestle and mortar to break them down into smaller pieces. They can then be added to your compost, where the organic matter can continue its cycle and contribute to your soil. Around a third of all food produced globally is lost or wasted, and in the UK we waste approximately 9.52 million tonnes of food every year. With this recipe, you can take an ingredient that might have been thrown away, reuse it to make an iced tea and then find one final purpose for the leaves. For me, reducing food waste is also about valuing the people, time and resources that go into producing the ingredients we enjoy. One ingredient, three uses and no unnecessary waste. Trust me when I say you need to give this a go. #TheMainIngredient #ZeroWaste #TikTokForGood #Summer #IcedTea
