Paisley update 💔💜 sorry it’s another big one 30 whole days. 30 days since we last heard our baby girl’s voice. 30 days without seeing her beautiful smile. 30 days without hearing her laugh. 30 days without her cuddles. 30 days without holding our little girl the way we should be able to. 💔 30 days without Paisley being awake. My last update I explained how Paisley was rushed into surgery after developing air around her heart As her lung had collapsed, and the situation was incredibly dangerous. She needed a drain putting into her left side to release the air and help her lung re-inflate. Thankfully, her surgery went beautifully. The drain did exactly what it needed to do. 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹But then, less than 24 hours later, our world was turned upside down yet again.Paisley’s right lung had now collapsed. Both of our baby girl’s lungs had now collapsed within less than 24 hours of each other. 💔💔 There are no words to explain what that felt like for myself and Ross. Watching your child fight for her life is something no parent should ever have to experience. Once again, Paisley was rushed into surgery to have another drain put in to release the air and help re-inflate her lung. 🫁 Afterwards, we were pulled aside by a consultant and told something that absolutely shattered us. Paisley had developed ARDS — Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Her little lungs were failing, and oxygen was struggling to get into her bloodstream. We were told just how serious the situation was. We were told that both of her lungs collapsing in such a short space of time was incredibly dangerous. They told us they had given Paisley all of the best treatments they could for her lung failure. And they were doing everything they possibly could. But then came the words no parent should ever have to hear. We were told that now, a lot of this comes down to Paisley and how much fight she has left. Some babies survive and some babies don’t💔 They told us they will continue to support her with the ventilator. They are not giving up on her.They will continue to do everything they possibly can for our girl.But they also had to prepare us for the possibility that if she reaches the maximum support they can give her and her body still cannot maintain the oxygen it needs, her organs could eventually shut down and she could go to sleep forever. 💔💔💔 I don’t think there is a word in the world that can describe what hearing that does to a parent. That conversation completely broke myself and Ross💔 It’s always blow after blow ❤️‍🩹 But that was over a week ago now. And in true Paisley style…SHE IS STILL FIGHTING. 💜 Our girl is showing us every single day that she isn’t ready to give up, She’s showing us how much fight she has.Every day she is here is another day she is fighting! Every tiny improvement is an improvement. And we will celebrate every single one. 🙏🏼 Myself and Ross are by her side 24/7 We talk to her, We tell her how much we love her, We tell her how proud we are,We hold her hand,We remind her that her mummy and daddy are right here and not going anywhere. The medics and consultants have told us she is doing well, especially considering everything her little body has been through We know we have a huge road ahead of us,We know Paisley is going to be in hospital for a very long time, We know there could be more hurdles more scary moments.More days where we will be terrified. But right now, we have hope. And as long as Paisley is fighting, we will fight alongside her. 💜 We believe in our girl. We believe she can do this. We believe one day we will hear her laugh again. We believe one day we will hear her voice. We believe one day we will get those cuddles again.
