Even through the hard days, my little one still finds a reason to dance and smile. 🥹❤️🩹😊🙏
Exploring DC, one hidden gem at a time! Did you know there’s a Black-owned record and bookstore tucked inside DC’s historic Union Station? Welcome back to another episode of Exploring DC! Today I stopped by Rail Records & Books, a Black-owned business that opened in April 2025, bringing together music, literature, history, and culture in one space. What makes this spot even more interesting is the story behind its founder, David Ross, who was also behind Eckington Hall, a former cultural hub in Northeast DC that created space for local artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, and creatives to connect and showcase their talents. Although Eckington Hall has since closed, it’s exciting to see that same appreciation for music, creativity, and community reflected in Rail Records & Books. From flipping through vinyl records to browsing books, this is such a unique place to explore, especially if you appreciate DC’s rich cultural history. One of my favorite parts about exploring DC is discovering the people, places, and stories that have helped shape the city beyond its monuments and tourist attractions! Have you visited Rail Records & Books? Let me know what you think, or share another DC spot with an interesting history that I should explore next! Procedural vs. substantive due process — same clause, two totally different questions. ⚖️ Procedural due process asks: was the process fair? Before the government takes your liberty or property, you get notice and a real chance to be heard — and Mathews v. Eldridge balances how much process is due. Substantive due process asks: can the government do this at all, even with perfect procedures? Under Glucksberg, describe the right carefully, check whether it's deeply rooted in history and tradition — yes means strict scrutiny, no means rational basis. Bad hearing, fine law? Procedural. Fine hearing, bad law? Substantive. Which one trips you up more on exams? Tell me in the comments 👇 Free drills at lawschoolshortcuts.com — follow for daily 1L shortcuts.
