People just dont understand why research like this is important. A lot of our understand of the human brains actually come from studying how brains work in insect and mice. insects like flies have much simpler brain, which allows us to map out exactly where all the neurons are, how they interact with one another. We cant do this in human yet simply due to ethical reason, but also, the human brain is a lot more complicated and much bigger. However, understanding how neurons work in flies still gives us an immense amount of information about the biology behind many behaviors, which have been connected to human! We also use flies to screen for drugs to treat cancer, an initiative called "fly-to-bedside", which have helped identified many new drug combinations for therapy-resistant cancers. There is a reason why flies are a valuable research model!
