he only survived for that long bc the bears in katmai national park are costal brown bears. they have abundant food in their environment, and there's lot of human visitors in the park yearly. so they tend to be more docile and accepting of humans. he was attacked in october, when tourist season was over and fish and berries were beginning to become sparse, so the bears were more desperate for food, and one of them decided he might taste good.

He was careless and dangerous. I met him and he harmed the wildlife he claimed to love. Alaskans disliked him greatly to this day. It did not work, he had it everyone at risk. Making him sound like a hero is so irresponsible. He did it for ego and to get sober with no wildlife experience

fwiw, the Polar bear is the most dangerous of the bears. Grizzly and Black bears will still kill people though, no problem.

It took me a couple of days to get over that documentary. He was there too late in the summer and the bears were hungry. He was definitely narcissistic and I felt so sorry for his girlfriend, she tried to save him but then got killed herself.

Thank you for covering this case. I wasn't aware that he was fine getting killed by the bears and that, in my opinion, is horrible. How could you drag your girlfriend knowing that events could go awry, at least she won't d*e. I cannot imagine watching and listening to the tape, the sister and his friend, correct me if I am wrong, decided never to reveal that audio ever. The one that is viral in the media is a replica of the said audio.

My parents told me this story when I was like 6 and they were like see Kaya that’s why you don’t believe wild animals are your friends because I was a huge animal lover and they were worried I’d try some bs like ts 😭
