Wrong. Topaz rubies and some times ofher gems used for purposes could fus but cross fusing is wrong. Like no jades. Delete this because this is ring an there ar people beliving it.

Guard type gems (Topaz, Ruby, not seen but likely Quartz gems as well) were allowed to as long as it was with a same-type gem and was only for the purpose of defending whoever or whatever they were guarding. This was only in situations where they could’ve lost otherwise (We see this with mega Ruby and Topaz)

steven universe larpers!! rubies were allowed to fuse too like we see in the story of ruby and sapphire where the three rubies fused and pearl poofed two of them (and in general gems which had a purpose in doing so)

Erm Actually Rubies were also allowed to fuse and it was implied that other soldier like gems could too. It was mainly gems that weren’t the same gem type that couldn’t fuse or gems that had no business fusing like the Jades at the ball
