I’m 45 and I’m embarrassed to admit… 1. I still sometimes feel guilty when I’m not working. I wanted freedom so badly, yet some days when I’m sitting by the ocean in the middle of a weekday, there’s still a voice saying, “Shouldn’t you be doing something?” Apparently you can change your schedule faster than you change years of conditioning. 2. I still worry about money sometimes… even though my financial life looks completely different now. I know what it feels like to count pennies and wonder how everything will get paid. That version of me didn’t disappear just because my circumstances changed. 3. I still compare myself to other people. I can be incredibly proud of what I’ve built and still see someone doing “better” and suddenly wonder if I’m behind. I hate admitting that, but it’s true. 4. I still have days where I question myself. Three years of building something successful hasn't made me fearless. Sometimes I still wonder if I'm good enough, doing enough, growing fast enough. I’ve just learned not to let those thoughts stop me anymore. 5. I’m still learning how to enjoy the life I worked so hard to create. For years I knew how to survive. Work. Push. Fix. Keep going. Slowing down? Receiving? Actually enjoying an ordinary weekday without needing to be productive? That has been a whole different lesson. 6. I still care what people think more than I’d like to admit. I can say “I’m going to do me” all day long … but criticism can still sting. The difference now is I don't let somebody else's opinion decide what I do next. 7. Sometimes I look at my daughter and wonder if I did enough. Did I work too much when she was younger? Was I present enough? Did she feel how hard I was trying? I don't think motherhood ever stops giving you things to question. And probably the biggest one… I thought by 45 I’d feel like a woman who had finally figured herself out. I haven’t. I’m still changing. Still unlearning. Still figuring out what I want next. But maybe that's what I understand now that I didn't before: Having a life you love doesn't mean you've figured everything out. It just means you've finally given yourself permission to keep becoming.🫶
