@chasseurdesons: When the wind wakes an empty shell 🐚 In the south of France, I found myself in a dry meadow, surrounded by thousands of tiny white snails clinging to the stems. This kind of gathering is typical of aestivation. When the weather becomes too hot and dry, some snails climb up vegetation to escape the heat of the ground, then enter a dormant state that helps them reduce water loss. Along the path, I also found many empty shells. There was a gentle breeze that day and, without quite knowing why, I placed one of them on my contact microphone. The breeze made the shell gently move against the microphone, and I immediately fell in love with the sound. It felt as though the wind were breathing a little life back into a shell that had once been home to a living creature. 🔊 This time, I wanted to create a short sound composition inspired by what all these shells made me imagine. The video begins with the mono sound of a single shell. Then, as the meadow is gradually revealed, the sounds multiply and expand into stereo, as though all the shells were moving together in the wind. #nature #sound #Science #pourtoi #fyp
