As a Black lady living with Crohn’s disease, I can vouch for that Black man. The assumption is either we are NOT really in pain or we’re “drug seeking.” So yeah, it’s generally Tylenol for us. In fact, I nearly loss my life dealing with this foolishness. The healthcare disparities are beyond disrespectful to us. I suppose the bright side is we are less likely to become addicted to pain meds.

I had neck surgery. 10 screws and two rods. I got pain meds in the hospital. When I left I was told to take Tylenol or ibuprofen. Even tho my recovery time was 12 months.

I am a black American man. When I go to the hospital for my pain joints or whatever. My doctor gives me steroids for my pain. Maybe because my doctor knows me. But she give me steroids

I rather stay home from what I have experienced i was given tylenol, after surgery and sent home the next day, experiencing a lot of pain, so i'm done with hospitals

As someone with sickle cell I can tell that A LOT of doctors and some nurses do not believe me when I tell them I’m in a lot of pain. And I’m respectful as possible so they at least consider that I’m not lying and some still don’t understand that I’m not just there to be there until they call my hematologist and look at the medicine I take daily just to keep me comfortable at home.

If i'm understanding you correctly , tylenol. really don't do a d*** thing for pain , that's been my experience , it does work , but when you need pain medicine , you want something that deals with the pain?

Agree but I am allergic to most pain meds so they do offer Tylenol and they know I’m know I’m seeking drugs to my history I agree they see us differently but some doctors see you as a patient not a color I had surgery 3 weeks ago whole team was white I was treated with respect 🫡 well taken care of ofc some things cross my mind but I am pleased usually when u are addressed rudely jus leave
