Mmm. Agree and disagree to an extent. I feel it’s more nuanced than this. Because obviously you’re the only one in control of your thoughts/actions/feelings. Cool. Doesn’t mean that you’re not *allowed* to feel those things and express them, even if they’re still your responsibility. Just like im allowed to feel tired about parenting even tho the kids are my responsibility. As well, just because someone has good intent doesn’t mean there wasn’t an unintentional impact that that person should own. Just like if my kid accidentally hurt someone with words/actjons. Still needs reparation.

Thank you! Too many people try to make it sound like the intent to communicate your feelings means your partner has to just take it. We have to stop trying to make other people accountable for our feelings and the meaning we assign to their actions. Yes, there needs to be communication of hurt in relationships and the healthy way to do it is to remember that both partners need to be treated like people.
